Well hello! Facebook has monopolized my attention. It is easy and I love the pics. And, no blogging required...so, I'll try to catch you up! I am totally NOT monogramming right now. Too involved with children's activities. My oldest son tore his ACL in FOOTBALL and had surgery Wednesday. He is doing well/ My middle daughter is cheering for high school...well, season just ended, but moved on to competition cheer! And, my youngest son just started basketball. Oh, RIP UGA vii!

Yes, I was an Atlanta Falcon's Cheerleader. As you can see from the picture, the Falcon's PR Dept. tried for a new look and had collegiate style cheerleaders. It did not go over too well. I am 4th from left!
Good times! And, big money...I think we were paid $50.00 a game! Just out of college, I had a ball!

Getting Groovy Fit

This is what I have been doing! I have joined Minnette with a eating clean and daily exercise program...5:45 every morning! I am starting my fifth week and have lost five pounds....but, more than that I feel great! I can feel the difference...mentally and in my clothes! She has taken us on a tour of the grocery store and educated us on the foods to avoid and the right foods to eat. Basically, avoiding processed and packaged food...getting the most nutrients out of your calories and eating a rainbow of foods. So that's what I have been doing...oh, and I joined Facebook too, so I am catching up with my Phi Mu sorority sisters....

My Employer

I work a couple days at week at The Pine Needle. Around eight hours a week I work unloading merchandise, fluffing the store and taking care of customers. We have many brides...and, if you are an upcoming bride, you may register on-line.

This was the employees at our Christmas Party the owners hosted at their home. I embroidered the shirts for the Christmas Season.

I think everyone agrees, the Obamas certainly "worked the inaugaration" to a tee! Love, love, love the pink and orange....my personal favorite...although, Charlie Gibson questioned it....I totally loved the detailed schedule and the assistant bringing the daughters through to the stage. It was so preppy!
I am totally supporting our President! (just don't take our money!)

A friend asked me to make a gift for a boy's birthday. This is what I did. Love to find cute things at WallieWorld. This 100% cotton turtleneck onesie is so nice for $3.50 and the sweats are a great orange for Auburn fans...the daddy played there. The towels were also $3.50 and had lots of cute colors...I bought the red and brown trimmed ones too.

Moose Chase

One of the fun things we did while out west was to snowmobile for 12 miles to the base of a mountain...the most captured peak pictured on calendars.

We encountered this cutie on the way up the mountain. I think more folks are killed by moose than bear. He is just returning from chasing a man from N.Y. on his snow mobile.

At the top, but you can't see the peaks in the background or the pond covered by snow. On the way down, we encountered the moose again, and he chased right towrds us again. I told the guide that I thought the moose was "planted" to get our money's worth!

I was born in 1965... I bought season one of "Mad Men" and I am hooked. Okay, there is way too much smoking and drinking, but I love January Jones' character. She was just featured in Town and Country. I think it's the clothes I love the most. One scene, Betty Draper had on an embroidered top with seahorses that buttoned down the back, gorgeous and she was headed to the beach! (in her yellow preppy station wagon) This series reminds me of Bewitched. Darren even commuted to Manhattan from Conn. for his advertising job. Anyone else enjoy this series?

Is it January already? The good thing is I have been inside and able to finally put together this diaper bag for a friend with whom I work...It is for her daughter who just had a baby girl. The bright fabric is laminated so I put it inside and the bottom. The pocket inside is made for a bottle.

A Little Project

I have been busy with this project for about two months or so... I wanted an outdoor fireplace and decided to add a screened porch which seemed more useful than a patio with one. A patio and pool are on the backburner...but, times are tough, and not sure about spending $$$$ right now. We had my son's sixteenth "Sweet" party already before the porch was finished. We call it the "Sanctuary"...many naps already out there!

Wow...last Monday, July 14th, I chaired a luncheon for FCA to raise money for female christian athletes in NW Georgia...I introduced Katharyn Richt and she spoke to an audience of almost 300 women...Amazing...
She is the official "water girl" for the dawgs...And, according to her hubbie, the best they have ever had...Today, my son left for FCA camp...

Well...I'm Back

And, it was wonderful. The most relaxing vacation ever...And, I didn't even miss the computer, so I am slow to post and have been living life at a slower pace...This may be my last post for a while...Yesterday I planted some tomatoes, peppers and lavendar. I also planted two climbing rose bushes. I watched my robins leave their nest on my front porch...I watched from my back porch as mama and daddy Bluebird flew into their house and fed their little babies....I think, all the time I sit at my computer, I could be doing something useful. (like walk another lap around the block and enjoy the beauty of spring, cook supper for my family or heck, maybe clean the house)
Enjoy the week! Friday is Arbor Day....maybe I'll dig in the dirt some more:)

Two questions answered:

1. For my birthday I received some fab gifts from friends...Mani and pedi gift certificate, two pairs of flip-flops, gardening items that I love, Banana Republic bath wash and lotion which smells great, gosh just too much! My little work place gave me a Vera Bradley hanging bag and travel bag. How nice was that? And then my hubby shopped himself and gave me a Michael Stars top and Elliot Lauren bermudas that he picked out, a bottle of red wine...okay two...and a one hour massage gift certificate...whoohoo...and, well, I'm getting a new outdoor family space with grill, fireplace and patio. They are starting next week and I'll post pics for sure. I am very excited about this because I love, love to be outside.
The flip-flops are called Switch Flops ..mine are actually black and white polka dots...Check out their website...Very cute and I love the wedge heel!

2. I don't have an Etsy store because it would totally ruin my mojo...seriously, I am so impulsive and I love to just make up a gift at the spur of the moment but if I have it hanging over my head it's not fun...If I had 10 bags to make I would not be happy! I am easily stressed and so busy with family right now. But I love to make gifts for those I love...

We lost badly, but we played in AT&T Stadium in Chattanooga where the Lookouts play so it was fun for my oldest child. He is a freshman and was put on the mound with a couple of players on...luckily, that didn't count against him when they scored. Like I said a beautiful night...

What a great day for us! Our youngest was baptized and it was very special. Our pastor had just brought back water from Phillipi where Paul baptized Lydia. He poured the water into the baptistmal pool and then my son was first to be baptized. It was very moving for me, as a mother, and I cried, but to have all three of mine baptized and to know Jesus is indeed a blessing. I am so not perfect, and neither are my children, but to have a Lord who loves us and forgives us, is ...shall I say fabulous! P.S. I have my machine back...And, I am moving on with my anger issues over it. May sell it on e-bay and buy an industrial-strenghth one. Embroidery is what I love....
***In 15 years, I have always taken pictures but guess what? Not one this year! I have failed!

Baseball, Track and Baseball, oh my...

Just too busy these days! I actually had all three children at the high school today. Older son had a game and younger son had practice on the H.S. Girl's softball field...Shhhh. Don't tell... Daughter had a track meet and the coach told her to participate in the high jump. He told her he would show her at the meet today. He never showed up but her team mates told her what to do! She has never even seen the pole in which to jump. This cutie shows up for one of the teams and told my daughter a few pointers... you must check this out. Cutie Patootie Track Star with scholarship to UNC 10 years ago and now coaches a middle school team She placed third...Proud Mom!

The giraffe bag was only $5.99 at Old Navy. Today was a friend's birthday, although I didn't make it to the party. Sorry, but I'm a working girl now. (does not stop working mom neighbor to call and ask to pick up her children and feed them a snack, etc. though) The towel I found at Belk's..yoohoo...for $14.99 on sale from $20.00. I have seen some fabuloso towels this year. Walmart has some great ones too! I bet Old Navy could come up with some fab printed ones! The monogram on my friend's towel is from my old machine. Of course, I would have monogrammed the bag if I had my other machine. Just waiting on mine to be fixed. What's $500.00 more in repair costs?

On sale at Kroger... dish soap and the laundry detergent. Or it can also be purchased here... Can anyone describe the Rhubarb smell? I noticed it was a limited edition fragrance. I love the Geranium too...not a huge fan of Lemon Verbena. And, if you are on the "green" bandwagon, it qualifies.

We can't paly rec ball any more, we are on a travel team... because in one weekend we play "half a season of rec ball." We can't just cheer at the school level, we are on an all-star team. I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted. I had the Freshman Breakfast at my home and didn't even take pics of the decorations! I used a cotton candy pink and black theme.

My house and my son coming in from dance on his cell, with my daughter to the left looking on...Shhh! Don't tell my son that his mullet is not working. He wanted it long for this event. Now, we can chop it off for baseball season. Girl in pic is not his date and that is not my husband at door.

These Freshmen were a little awkward but were able to relax afterwards and we all had a ball.

More news..today the company was so professional that they left me an anonymous comment. Yes, and said I yelled and swore on the phone. Think I'll use that in my harassment case because that is not true AND I do not curse..The problem is that the company Sew CHic, in my hometown, went out of business (I think I know why) but I received a call from her today and she has found all of my information..original bill of sale, registration and warranty information. Viking would not believe me when I told them I had registered and I really bought the machine, etc. but The previous owner had left town. So the way I see it, they should have taken extra special care of me. Whatever...

So here it is....if you want to embroider, I would not suggest a viking / husq. designer SE you need a stronger, more reliable and functional one. The customer service is poor, okay terrible..period...the end.

But I made this purse before it went on the outs. The towel I did with my old machine (Elna CE20) but had to keep rehooping. Seriously, I never had had the first moments' trouble with it. I found the retro designs and couldn't wait to try them out. So my friends get my samples!

* I am going to be honest...I cried today from the stress because Viking/Hus and the sewing machine dealership isn't being very helpful. I bought the machine only 2 years ago and found my canceled check today. I am embarrassed to say I wrote a check out for 8,000.00+ and just can't believe they would not be kinder to me....

It's A God Thing II

My youngest son had been asking me about becoming a christian for a year or so. We discussed and read the book "How to Become a Christian". He was ready to walk the aisle and tell our congregation. My husband was on-call though and said he would be operating all day. My son did not want to wait. Our children's sermon yesterday morning was a sweet story about an indian "rite of passage" between a father and son. I whispered, "we really should wait until your daddy is here". "No" was his answer. My older son texted (what did we do w/o our cell phones?) hubby and told him and he said he was just getting finished..one of his cases canceled. I said "come in your scrubs if you need to"... about the time little one was introduced about his decision, there comes hubby walking down the aisle. Sweet, too sweet....

I have had to delete a couple of posts, one because a comment was seriously "viral ish". The other post was written in anger and I deleted it at five am this morning when I awoke stressing about it. It was theraputic though:o)
We are back to school tomorrow after a long Winter's Break. Busy week of activities as many of you are. This weekend is my oldest son's Sweetheart Dance. I am hosting the Freshman Class for a breakfast. Can not wait to show pics!

Amazing Chair

My new neighbor and I have basically collaborated on both our daughter's rooms. It is easy to share paint colors, material and even carpet. Here is a chair that I monogrammed for her and she recovered it. It is the cutest chair I have seen! I wish the pics did it justice. See what you can do with any old chair?

I voted, but not without reservations....I just want total honesty, loyalty and integrity. Today, I checked my voice mail and I had 14 new messages. The candidates were calling to make a last-ditch effort in gaining my support. Just tell me good things about YOU ...please don't bad-mouth the other candidate. I am so apathetic about the whole race and wish we could start all over with candidates. Does anyone else feel this way?

I have been tagged by MRS. and I am gladly playing along. I met my hubby in college and we were very good friends. (we would ride to church together) He was our sorority's Big Brother and I was his frat's Little Sister. I cheered in college and he left after three years (so smart) and headed to medical school. After I graduated. I taught a cheer clinic in his town and called him and said "let's go get a beer"....seriously...college days, remember? Anyhoo, we went and played tennis one night and I realized he was smart and athletic. When he talked about water skiing I think I realized "I'm digging you!". We dated two years and he asked me to marry him and then went to Africa for seven weeks to visit his brother, who was a medical missionary. We have been married 17 years. He's a pretty good roommate and still my dear friend...

Although my camera is out of order, my friend sent me this photo from this past weekend. Daughter is on an All-Star team and they won in Chattanooga, TN for Youth Level 4. Now you see why I need to shed ten pounds as I don't like counting chins:o) oh, and son is getting a haircut this week.

It's A God Thing

My picture thingy is broken...I have bunches to load when it's fixed... So here is a story...We have a half mile loop around my house and I have walked many a lap around the neighborhood. The house across the street went into foreclosure about two years ago and I prayed and prayed over that house every time I passed it to put a nice family there with children. This summer, a family indeed bought the house...three children...two boys and one girl...He is the pastor of our presby church here and the wife is now one of my best friends. Amazing isn't even the word. The wife said when she entered the house, although not really her style, she knew this was the house God had meant for them. There are many things that happened along the way that were neat. Truly, God works in our everyday lives and we need to stop sometimes to listen and see it. I mean, where else could my child run across the street this morning in 26 degree weather, sporting an Underarmor and shorts and barefooted...She has a third child too!

But it didn't keep us home from school today. This was last night and the kids were so excited. I look like the bad mom since my child wouldn't even put on a coat or hat... They built a big snowman and had lots of fun thinking they could sleep in...not! It's the south, okay?

I said one day that I am working six hours a week (eight last week, don't laugh) at a cute little store here where I live. Mostly English Antiques, Vera Bradley and Pine Cone Hill..
But tomorrow I am stressed because I am working AND teaching two Marketing classes at my son's high school. The professor wants the class to make these and sell. I started these RAGJAX about three years ago. They are fun for games, parties, etc. Wish me luck...The Princess

Yes, I left this...Is it me or is this overrated? It was going along great and then one scene just got me...William just ruins it. So, what I still want to know...How does Tom die? And, what happens with Ellen? I want to know the good stuff...not the rape, pillage and animal torture....
I then picked up Half Broken Things by Morag Joss which won a CWA Silver Dagger award...Only 303 pages and so far, very interesting.

I got more done this morning waking up at six a.m. than the entire holiday season it seemed. Which is inspiring as I thought I was just going to be a glutonous loser...I have downloaded some new fonts and tried these out for my friend who leaves her stuff and we usually forget about them! Hope they still fit! They are not perfectly trimmed yet, but you get the idea. I think the dots will be cute for Spring!

My hubbie and I have a challenge. We've both decided to lose 7 percent of our body weight. For me, 7 lbs. Stop the high calorie intake and exercise, exercise , exercise! I jogged five miles yesterday and I can hardly move today:o) He told me not to complain, it is a new year!

On the menu today: Pork Chops, green beans, rice, crowder peas and crescent rolls...My diet starts when the children go back to school!
***Note: I am 5'2" and weigh 132 so I want to weigh 125 realistically! I'm baking chocolate chip cookies right now! and, yes, I exercise regularly, but had not run in two weeks because I had been eating, drinking and being merry!

Most of you are using the internet for holiday shopping...I think it's great fun to put on the flannel pajamas, have a cup of hot cocoa (i mean pour a glass of wine hehe) and order in the privacy of your own home. I found some cute little goodies in the specialty shops around town last weekend during the Open Houses. I actually worked two days in one of the stores. Here are the shirts I appliqued and embroidered for the Open House at The Pine Needle. Eleven elves donned them and worked like crazy. I loved it!

I went to Fresh Market hoping they would have this Fall fragrance but no go. So I ordered from Mrs. Meyers herself and enjoyed getting a big box of cleaning supplies in this new gingerbread fragrance. Mrs. Meyer's counter spray is the best! The soy candle is burning right now! Have I told you how much I love Fall and even love daylight savings time...

Yes, 17 years of wedded bliss TODAY! Yoohoo. To celebrate...Four Seasons Hotel, Trois Restaurant and Trish Yearwood....Okay, maybe we won't even leave the hotel. I'm pooped after this exciting week of Halloween and ...ok, sit down, I worked yesterday. Yes, at a cute little store here ...they needed extra elf help with their Christmas open house.
I just love this picture and I have been very un-sportsmanlike about our victory over Florida. I need to be thrown a flag. But Markiepoo is just telling coach where they are going to celebrate after they score the first TD! Surely, you New Jersey folks are proud of your Knowshon!

What a busy day filled with fun activities and running around! But, at 9:00, I say lights out and let's put our youngest to bed. So, I turn out the lights, my candy bowl is emptied and here comes a caravan of three cars. Out come three families including two adults. I find more candy and smile and say Happy Halloween. Hello? Here's a dollar, go buy a whole bag of candy and get your 2 year old in the bed! Then there was a 1979 buick parked front of my house for the next half hour and since no one ever knocked on my door, I wondered where these people were! I like my privacy, well, at home, although I expose myself right here!
